BALLER MOVE: Start in Superflex/2QB leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: QB2
ANALYSIS: Whether hampered or not on the field, losing a top receiver will hurt any quarterback. League-leading receiver Tyreek Hill (ankle) may give it a go on Sunday, but he'd be limited at best. The fantasy football ceiling for Tua Tagovailoa has been lowered.
Hill's injury is only one of many concerns for Miami and Tagovailoa. They've already lost center Connor Williams for the season. Guard Isaiah Wynn also likely won't return this year. Another guard, Robert Hunt, is out on Sunday. Three more projected starters are questionable. In an offense based on timing, losing multiple offensive linemen throws everything off.
The Dolphins dropped 34 points on these same New York Jets just a few weeks ago. Tagovailoa scored just 9.8 fantasy points with two interceptions, 243 yards, and one touchdown. A defensive score and two Raheem Mostert touchdowns accounted for the rest of the scoring. The best way to beat the Jets is to run right at them. The secondary allows the fewest fantasy points to wide receivers by a wide margin. It's a similar case for quarterbacks.
Miami is an 8.5-point favorite on Sunday. If they build a big lead, whether on defense or through the running game, Tagovailoa's fantasy day could quickly spiral. But Zach Wilson also played markedly better against Houston. If he can replicate that for the second week in a row, it could help Tagovailoa. That's a tough ask, though, as Wilson rarely strings together great games.
Note: There are some wind concerns for this game. Forecast models show gusts could hit 30 miles per hour.
