Troy Tulowitzki to Succeed in First Full Season with Blue Jays

Despite a drop in production once he was traded to the Blue Jays midseason, Tulowitzki’s presence in Toronto’s lineup ignited the club’s late season run, when they sped by the Yankees into first place. When healthy, Tulowitzki has the potential to be one of the best offensive shortstops in all of baseball. When healthy. His 128 games played in 2015 were his most since 2011, while he’s only played more than 150 games twice in his career.

Tulo is obviously an important component to Toronto’s lineup, and will benefit from hopefully playing a full season beside Donaldson, Bautista, and Co. His drop in production last season was likely due in part to his spot in the order, batting only .227 leading off. Now with Dalton Pompey projected to bat first for the Jays, Tulo will be dropped into a spot consumed with RBI opportunities.

Despite consistent health issues, Tulo shouldn’t be avoided, but he should be drafted with a grain of salt. It would be wise to draft another shortstop in later rounds as backup. Our guys at RotoBaller have him ranked second amongst shortstops and will likely be one of the first couple scooped up at his position.
