Trey Sermon Fantasy Football Outlook for Week 6

Trey Sermon - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

Indianapolis Colts running back Trey Sermon caught six passes last week and put in a top-ten weekly performance in PPR leagues.

Fantasy managers who picked him up off the waiver wire are hoping he will have a prominent role again in Week 6, but an injury revealed on the practice report could keep him out of the game.

Will Trey Sermon be healthy in time for the Colts' Week Six matchup against the Tennessee Titans? Is Trey Sermon injured? What is the latest Trey Sermon injury news?

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Trey Sermon Injury Update for Fantasy Football

Trey Sermon missed practice on Wednesday with an unspecified collarbone injury, according to the Colts' first practice report this week. Details are sparse about the injury. Sermon did not go down and leave the field in Week Five.

He was the Colts' starting running back last week against the Jacksonville Jaguars. On ten carries, he gained 38 yards and scored a touchdown. He added six catches for 25 yards.

While a mediocre showing, the touchdown and the receptions made a great game for fantasy football purposes, especially in full-PPR leagues.

On the season, Sermon is only averaging 3.8 yards per carry and 4.6 yards per reception. However, as the starting running back of a team with an above-average offense, Sermon could get the volume to produce start-worthy fantasy output.

The Colts' usual starting running back Jonathan Taylor, who missed Week Five, was also listed as a DNP on Wednesday, with his lingering ankle injury. Wide receivers Josh Downs (toe) and Michael Pittman (back) did not practice either.

Trey Sermon Fantasy Football Outlook for Week 6

If Trey Sermon plays, he'll be a potential flex play in Week Six. Sermon has not been an effective running back. He does not run with confidence between the tackles. He has averaged just 4.2 yards per carry in his career.

Without the rushing touchdown and half a dozen catches, he would not have had a great game last week. He has a decent opportunity to find the end zone again this week. The Colts rank in the top ten in both total touchdowns and rushing touchdowns.

However, Sermon's six catches may prove to be an outlier. His previous career-high for catches in a game was two, and he only had one target for one catch in the first four weeks of the season.

It's not a particularly easy matchup. The Titans have a strong rushing defense. They rank No. 5 in terms of limiting EPA per rushing play. They only allow the sixth-fewest fantasy points per game to opposing RBs.

If Jonathan Taylor misses Week Six, Sermon should be considered as a potential start in the RB2 or flex slot.
