BALLER MOVE: Start In All Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: TE1
ANALYSIS: Arizona Cardinals second-year TE Trey McBride is poised for another big matchup in Week 16 after his phenomenal outing last week. McBride caught ten of his 11 targets for 102 total yards in the team’s Week 15 loss to the 49ers.
The Colorado State product has quietly led this Cardinals pass-catching group in receptions (66) and receiving yards (712) this season. Now, with starting WR Marquise Brown (heel) out for their matchup against the Bears, McBride is set up for an even bigger workload than normal.
Since starting QB Kyler Murray returned from injury in Week 11, McBride is averaging almost eight targets and 85 receiving yards per game.
Although Chicago’s defense has gotten stingy over the last few weeks, they’ve still made for a great matchup for opposing tight ends. They currently allow the third most fantasy points to the position, as well as the second-most touchdowns.
No other tight end in football is seeing the rate of targets that McBride is. The 24-year-old has a 27.5% target rate, the highest at the position. His 712 receiving yards to go along with it are the sixth most amongst tight ends this season.
Now, with their target leader on the season in Brown ruled out, McBride has a real shot to be fantasy football's TE1 this week. The former John Mackey Award winner is a must-start in all formats.
