Trey Burton (TE, IND) - Week 7 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues

ANALYSIS: Only four tight ends broke the 20-PPR mark in Week 6, including Trey Burton. He finished TE3 with 21.9 points on the day against Cincinnati helping Indianapolis get the comeback victory this past Sunday. It's been a wild season at the Colts tight end position with up to three players fighting to lead it (Burton, Mo Alie-Cox, and Jack Doyle), but since coming back from injury in Week 4 Burton has been the most productive of them all.

Burton missed the first three games of the season, opening the door to Doyle and Alie-Cox to score plenty of fantasy goodies. MAC did so in Weeks 2 and 3, getting to 16.1 and 14 PPR points, but couldn't replicate those outings in the next two weeks, entirely missing Week 6 injured. Doyle's best game came yesterday, but he only scored 9.9 PPR points aided by a touchdown.

As far as Burton's season goes, he wasn't good in his comeback game (3.3 PPR) but he improved in W5 (8.3) and had a monster of a game yesterday to the tune of 4-of-5 receptions for 58 yards and a touchdown... receiving, as he was able to add another score on the ground after taking a direct snap near the goal line yesterday.

Indianapolis is going on a bye this week, so add Burton only if you have room to stash him for the time being while playing other TE at the position. He should be Indianapolis' TE1 going forward, though, and the Colts don't have many options on its receiving corps, so you can consider Burton the no. 3 option on the passing game at worst. Not bad for a weekly play in deeper leagues with upside for TE1 performances on spot matchups.
