ANALYSIS: Washington Nationals starting pitcher Trevor Williams has quietly been off to a strong start to the season and is worth adding in deeper formats. Through 36 ⅔ innings, Williams holds a stellar 1.96 ERA and 1.06 WHIP. He has struck out 30 batters and walked 12.

The 32-year-old has done very well with limiting home runs with his near-perfect 4.0% barrel rate. In addition, he has been able to generate ground balls at an above-average 48.0% rate, which has been a major key to his success. Both of these metrics combined have helped him offset his poor whiff and strikeout numbers.
While Williams will not provide a high tally of strikeouts, he should continue to provide solid ratios and will remain in the Nationals rotation for the foreseeable future. However, he has a career ERA of 4.38, so expect some regression throughout the summer.
