BALLER MOVE: Target ~250
CURRENT ADP: 285.4
ANALYSIS: On the verge of turning 30 years old, Trevor Plouffe could very well be heading into the best season of his career. The six-year veteran has been steadily improving for some time, increasing his hit total yearly. Displaying solid durability, his games total is on the same upward trend, culminating in a 156-game 2015 season. Last year he also jumped back into the 20s in home run totals. This spring, Plouffe has been phenomenal, hitting .395 with four homers and 14 RBI in 15 games. All the signs are encouraging for his upcoming campaign.
Listed as a 1B/3B, Plouffe offers fantasy flexibility coming off the bench. As Minnesota’s everyday third baseman, he’ll be playing in most games, making him a solid season-long option. All indications suggest that Plouffe will continue his offensive effectiveness, so another 20-HR, 80-RBI season appears to be in the cards. His ADP shows he’s a last pick-type fantasy player, which makes him a bit of a steal. His drafting should vary amongst fantasy baseball owners, as it all depends on how each drafted team is setting up. Plouffe would be most effective in a team needing a last-round utility man. A two-position player that can fetch you 20 and 80 while being a last pick isn’t very common. If by some chance he goes undrafted, he might be the type of player that commands a quick pickup from the waiver wire.
