Analysis: Remember Trevor Bauer's days of making diss tracks about Diamondbacks fans and producing BB/9 figures of 7.2 and 8.5? Well ten starts and 75.1 IP into the 2016 season and Bauer looks like a new man at the maturing age of 25. He currently has the 16th best ERA in the AL at 3.46, a 1.25 WHIP, 3.53 FIP, 8.2 K/9, and much improved HR/9 and BB/9 numbers of 0.7 and 3.1. Bauer's opponents have a slash line of .238/.309/.357, and have a very sustainable BABIP of .292. After producing consecutive walk percentages of 16.9%, 19.8%, 9.1%, and 10.6%, Bauer is walking opponents just 8.2% of their plate appearances and is still striking batters out at an above average clip of 21.8%. Combined with his insulation of power-hitting with HR and XBH percentages of just 1.9% and 6.6%, and it seems as if Bauer has finally made significant improvements in all of the areas that plagued him for years while still utilizing the electric arsenal that made him a top prospect in the first place.
