BALLER MOVE: Start in All Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: RB1
ANALYSIS: Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne Jr. is coming off the best season of his career. Over 17 games last year, he tallied 1,008 rushing yards, 476 receiving yards, and 12 touchdowns. He finished as the overall RB3 in PPR leagues.
A lot of Etienne's production can be attributed to the fact that he faced nearly zero competition in the Jaguars' backfield. Tank Bigsby wasn't a major factor, and Trevor Lawrence isn't a running quarterback.
The Jaguars' offense was strong enough that Etienne still prevailed in fantasy football, even with Calvin Ridley, Christian Kirk, and Evan Engram contributing in the passing game.
Etienne's success should continue this year, given that Ridley has departed and the Jaguars didn't make any major additions to their backfield.
Finished PPR RB2 overall behind the WORST OLine in the NFL last year.
What else does Etienne have to do?
- Prime age
- Elite rusher
- Great pass catcher
- Improving/good QB
- No backfield competitionShow some respect!

For Week 1, Etienne remains firmly in the RB1 tier. He's going up against a Miami Dolphins defense that allowed the 14th-most receiving yards and the 13th-most rushing touchdowns to opposing running backs last year. Miami's defensive front didn't see any major improvements this offseason, which means they're still susceptible to allowing big games from opposing running backs.
The biggest threat to Etienne's fantasy value would be a negative game script. However, the Dolphins are only 3.5-point favorites over Jacksonville, suggesting this game will stay close until the very end.
As a result, Etienne remains a very strong mid-range RB1 option heading into this season-opening clash.
