Where will tight end Evan Engram sign in NFL free agency? Mike Fanelli dives into the potential landing spots for free agent tight end Evan Engram.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have made several roster changes this week. They moved on from several veteran players, including trading Christian Kirk to the Houston Texans for a 2026 seventh-round draft pick.
However, the biggest move was releasing Evan Engram. The veteran struggled with injuries last season. Yet, he’s been one of the better tight ends over the past few years. The Jaguars saved roughly $6 million in salary cap space by releasing Engram.
Where could he land this offseason? Which teams would be a good fit for Engram? Let’s look at three potential landing spots for the veteran tight end.

Denver Broncos
The Broncos had one of the worst tight end units in the league last season. While many expect Denver to select a tight end with their first-round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, adding Engram would provide a more immediate impact.
Last year, Adam Trautman, Lucas Krull, and Nate Adkins combined for 46 receptions on 60 targets for 455 receiving yards and five touchdowns. By comparison, Engram had 47 receptions on 64 targets for 365 receiving yards and one touchdown in nine games last season.

Indianapolis Colts
Unfortunately, the Colts haven’t had an impact tight end since Jack Doyle in 2019. Jelani Woods hasn’t played since his rookie season because of injuries. Meanwhile, Mo Alie-Cox and Kylen Granson are upcoming free agents.
While Indianapolis could draft a rookie tight end with their first-round pick, the team would be better off adding a veteran of Engram’s talent. Anthony Richardson needs a reliable tight end, especially after struggling as a passer last year. Engram would give him a consistent weapon in the middle of the field.
Washington Commanders
Reportedly, the Commanders will likely re-sign Zach Ertz over the next few days. While the veteran tight end has close relationships with Jayden Daniels and offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, Ertz could find a better offer on the open market. Meanwhile, Ben Sinnott had little impact as a rookie, totaling five receptions for 28 receiving yards last year.
Therefore, Engram could replace Ertz as the team’s starting tight end. He is younger than the current starter. Furthermore, Engram provides the offense with more versatility than Ertz. Don’t be surprised if Washington adds a big-name pass catcher this offseason, even after trading for Deebo Samuel Sr. last week.
Kliff would love a TE like Evan Engram man.
My god that would be so nice
