The NFC and AFC Championship games are just around the corner, and one of the most important players in all of the NFL and fantasy football picked up an injury in the Divisional Round. Patrick Mahomes' status could be up in the air, so we have the latest updates. Although Tony Pollard's team has been eliminated from the playoffs, his injury is significant, so he's worth mentioning, too. We have the latest news on both players as of Monday, January 23rd, 2023.
We can't know for sure how these injuries will progress since both injuries are fresh, but it's always a good idea to get an early indication.

Patrick Mahomes Injury Update
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (ankle) suffered a right high-ankle sprain in the Divisional Round win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday but vowed "I'll be good to go" for the AFC Championship game against the Cincinnati Bengals next weekend. X-rays came back negative, but this is a serious injury nonetheless. The 27-year-old will be very sore this upcoming week and will likely have his practice reps limited heading into next weekend.
If Mahomes toughs it out and plays in the AFC Championship, fantasy managers can't expect him to be his usual self. He left the game briefly on Saturday to have his ankle taped up and returned to finish the game, but he was favoring his right ankle considerably. Mahomes finished the win 22-for-30 for a season-low 195 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions.
Tony Pollard Injury Update
Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard (leg) suffered a fractured left fibula in the loss to the San Francisco 49ers, so he'll have to undergo surgery and face a lengthy recovery heading into next season. However, since it's not a torn ACL or an injury that keeps players out for nearly a full year, he could be full-go by Week 1 in mid-September. Dynasty fantasy managers should probably hold Pollard, as the market for his services might decline.
The Cowboys have a potential out on Ezekiel Elliott's contract, and there were rumors Pollard could get the franchise tag heading into his fifth NFL season. Pollard's situation will be worth monitoring this offseason.
