Fantasy Baseball Players To Monitor Closely

Dylan Crews, OF - Washington Nationals

Rostered: 57% Yahoo!
Estimated Return: TBD

Crews landed on the injured list with an oblique strain this past week, and now could be the time to scoop him up.

The 23-year-old is off to a slow start this season, but his expected stats suggest he has been unlucky. Crews is slashing .196/.266/.354, but his xBA of .258 and xSLG of .469 suggest that better days are ahead for him.

Unfortunately, oblique strains are tough to predict, but Crews is young and could bounce back sooner rather than later. The former first-round pick is among the best stash candidates available.

Colton Cowser, OF - Baltimore Orioles

Rostered: 55% Yahoo!
Estimated Return: May 30

The Baltimore outfielder has been on the 60-day injured list with a thumb injury, but appears to be nearing a return.

Cowser was the team's opening day leadoff hitter and started the season with a bang against Max Scherzer. The 25-year-old mashed 24 home runs last season, and there is no reason to believe that he can't build on that this year.

The Orioles' lineup desperately needs a spark, and Cowser could be the match that lights the fire. Stash Cowser wherever he is available.

Luis Gil, SP - New York Yankees

Rostered: 29% Yahoo!
Estimated Return: Late June

Gil is still weeks away from returning to the rotation, but he has enough upside to suggest that you stash him now.

The reigning American League Rookie of the Year finished the 2024 season with a 3.50 ERA and 171 strikeouts in 151 2/3 innings. With a full season under his belt, Gil can improve on the numbers he put up last year.

The Yankees' flamethrower has a chance to return next month and will be supported by one of the best offenses in baseball. Gil should be viewed as a must-add pitcher ahead of his return.

Shane Bieber, SP - Cleveland Guardians

Rostered: 27% Yahoo!
Estimated Return: TBD

Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Shane Bieber will begin his rehab assignment soon and could return in a matter of weeks.

The former Cy Young winner missed nearly all of the 2024 season and will not make his 2025 debut until midseason, so there is a lot of uncertainty about what to expect from him, but there is reason for optimism.

Bieber owns a career 3.22 ERA in 843 innings pitched, meaning that he has been a dependable pitcher for a long time. 2023 was not a great season for Bieber, but his ceiling outcome could still be a top-tier starting pitcher. Bieber is worth stashing for the upside he possesses.

Victor Robles, OF - Seattle Mariners

Rostered: 16% Yahoo!
Estimated Return: TBD

Seattle Mariners outfielder Victor Robles is on the 60-day injured list with a shoulder injury, but could be worth a stash in deep leagues ahead of his midseason return.

Robles made an immediate impact when he joined the Mariners last season. The 28-year-old swung a hot bat while adding gold-glove defense in the outfield.

The Mariners are undoubtedly missing his contributions on both sides and will depend upon him once he returns. Robles is only rostered in 16% of Yahoo! leagues, so he can be easily stashed.
