Welcome to our PrizePicks MLB DFS prop picks for Tuesday, April 18, 2023. The 2023 MLB season is underway here at RotoBaller, and we have you covered with some terrific plays from our friends over at PrizePicks.
PrizePicks is a great DFS fantasy picks site where you can choose to select plays in terms of fantasy points or single stats. The goal is to build a 2-player, 3-player, 4-player, or 5-player entry and then select whether or not you want to play for the power play or the flex play. On the power play, you will need to be correct on each of your selections to win, and on the flex play, you will have a little more wiggle room for a chance to win some money back.
Our partners at PrizePicks offer some of the best and easiest-to-win MLB DFS games in the industry. There are no large-field tournaments filled with sharks where you have to get lucky just to place. At PrizePicks, you're not playing against other people, you're just playing against the projections, and the guys at PrizePicks have worked hard to give you really attractive opportunities to make some money. With promo code 'BALLER' you can get a 100% match on your deposit up to $100.
PrizePicks has two types of games. The first type of game is known as Fantasy Score, which consists of selecting various players and trying to determine if they will go over or under their projected fantasy points in a game. The second game is known as Single Stat. For MLB, Single Stat consists of pitcher strikeout props in which you determine if the pitcher in question will go over or under their projected strikeout total. You can mix and match players from each type of game in your entry or select all of your plays from the same type of game. Once you have selected your players and props, you can choose the aforementioned flex play or power play option. Let's see what the board offers today!

Vince Velasquez less than 4.5 strikeouts
Velasquez has struck out 10 over his first 13 1/3 innings pitched while eclipsing this number in just one of three starts. He will be up against the Rockies, who are posting just a 22.7% K rate vs. right-handers over the previous two weeks, which ranks in the top half of the league. Velasquez has also struggled with the walk thus far as he is posting a 4.73 BB/9, which could certainly get him in trouble at Coors Field.
Josiah Gray less than 4.5 strikeouts
The options are a bit limited on PrizePicks this early this morning, but we will go ahead and work Josiah Gray into the mix. He has struggled early in the season by posting a 4.32 ERA with just a 7.02 K/9 and 6.14 FIP. The matchup does not get any easier for him today against the Orioles, either.
Baltimore has started the season hot and is posting a walk rate of 11.8% vs. righties over the previous two weeks while pairing that with a 108 wRC+ mark. While they are posting the 10th-highest K rate over that span, Gray is more likely to get eaten up in this game than he is to eclipse this number.
Adley Rutschman more than 7.5 hitter fantasy score
If you play Rutschman today, keep in mind that you will not be able to pair him with Josiah Gray as PrizePicks does not permit hitter vs. pitcher matchups within the same game. Rutschman has been on fire as he has posted a 1.496 OPS with three bombs over the previous seven days.
He will be up against Josiah Gray, who has allowed a .251 BAA and allowed 32 home runs to left-handed hitters since 2021. Meanwhile, Rutschman has posted a .914 OPS with 15 bombs across his first 407 plate appearances against right-handed pitching.
Ronald Acuna Jr. more than 8.5 hitter fantasy score
Acuna has been on an absolute tear as he has posted a 1.071 OPS with four stolen bases over the previous week. He will be up against Blake Snell, who has allowed 27 home runs and 42 doubles to right-handed pitching since 2021 and has already given up three bombs and a .300 BAA to righties thus far in 2023. Acuna is posting a 1.005 OPS with three stolen bases across his first 23 plate appearances vs. left-handers in 2023 as well.
