MLB DFS Prop Picks for 4/8/23
Eric Lauer less than 5.0 strikeouts
Lauer managed to strike out six Cubs in the Brewers' season opener, but this is a completely different animal in the St. Louis Cardinals. To begin 2023, the Cards have posted just a 10.5% K rate vs. left-handed pitching. Granted, this is just across 38 plate appearances, but they were also one of the better teams vs. lefties in 2022 as well. Lauer also managed to eclipse this total in just 10 starts in 2022.
Luis Garcia less than 5.5 strikeouts
Garcia is not known as a high strikeout pitcher as he posted a sub 9.0 K/9 in 2022. He will have a tough matchup against the Twins in this one as they are posting just a 19.9% K rate vs. right-handers over their first 211 plate appearances, which is ranked eighth-best in baseball. Garcia managed to strike out just four in his first start against the White Sox and has managed to eclipse this total in just one of his previous five starts dating back to last season.
Nick Lodolo more than 7.0 strikeouts
Lodolo is a machine as he posted a very solid 11.41 K/9 in 2022. He kicked off his 2023 season by striking out nine over five innings pitched against the Pirates. He will now be facing the Phillies, who have posted a 22.2% k rate vs. left-handed pitching to begin the season. THere are plenty of holes in this Phillies lineup, which should allow Lodolo to have another solid strikeout outing.
Luis Robert Jr. more than 1.5 total bases
Robert is on fire to start the 2023 season. Over the previous seven days, Robert has posted a 1.125 OPS with four home runs and has eclipsed this total base prop in five of his first eight games. he will be up against Vince Velasquez, who has allowed 24 home runs to right-handed hitters since 2021 while also giving up 26 doubles.
