NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 5/7/23
The National Hockey League playoffs have yet to disappoint this season – depending on who your team is – as it flaunts its competitive parity with multiple upsets in the first round, notably Presidents’ Trophy winner Boston Bruins and reigning champions Colorado Avalanche.
During the playoffs, it is much more common to find low-scoring and heavy-hitting games. Keep in mind that teams who showcase a high aptitude to score goals will play much tighter and be a bit pickier with their shots. Tonight we have a 3-game slate as we head to the middle of Round 2 of the NHL Playoffs. I will do my best to guide you through this three-game slate on DraftKings and FanDuel starting at 3:30 p.m. EST.

Playoff Series Standings
Carolina Hurricanes 2 at New Jersey Devils 0
Toronto Maple Leafs 0 at Florida Panthers 2
Dallas Stars 1 at Seattle Kraken 1
Goalies
Sergei Bobrovsky - DK $7.5K || FD $7.7K
Opponent - Toronto Maple Leafs
Bobrovsky played on his head in Game 2, giving the Panthers a 2-game lead so far in this series – made 35 saves on 37 attempts –. Per Moneypuck.com, out of all goalies in the playoffs to start at least 5 games, Bobrovsky is the second-best in Goals Saved Above Expected Per 60 – 0.904 –. Furthermore, in the two games thus far against the Maple Leafs, Bobrovsky has a 0.944 Save Percentage or better. The Panthers made way with Toronto in Toronto and now they will be coming home in hopes of taking a 3-game lead. It is expected that Bob and company will feed off the crowd en route to a 3-0 series lead.
Others To Consider (Cash/GPP): Oettinger (DK $8.1K || FD $8.3K), Schmid (DK $8K || FD $7.5K)
Centers
Max Domi - DK $4.1K || FD $4.4K
Opponent - Seattle Kraken
Winger and linemate Joe Pavelski has been mentioned since returning to the lineup, however, it is now time to highlight Max Domi who brings grit to the line. Domi was doing well in the playoffs prior to Pavelski’s return. Although, since Pavelski has returned, Domi has skyrocketed in production with 4 assists and 4 shots in 2 games this series. In 6 games versus the Wild, Domi had 1 goal, 2 assists, 11 shots and 3 blocked shots to put things in perspective. At this price point, he may be one of the best-valued players in any position relative to his potential ceiling.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Bennett (DK $5.5K || FD $6.2K), Staal (DK $3.1K || FD $3.6K)
Wings
Matthew Tkachuk - DK $7.9K || FD $9.5K
Opponent - Maple Leafs
Matthew Tkachuk and linemate, Sam Bennett remain the x-factors for the Florida Panthers, combining for 1 goal, 5 assists, 11 shots and 3 blocked shots through 2 games in this series. Through the playoffs and a minimum of 14 TOI, Tkachuk-Bennett-Verhaughe is the third-best productive line with an Expected Goals Percentage of 79.3 Percent. Toronto has yet to find any answer for Tkachuk and like Bobrovsky, at home in a big Game 3, the winger will be feeding off the crowd and it would not be surprising to see him get on the score sheet at least once.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Seguin (DK $5.6K || FD $5.8K), Drury (DK $3K || FD $3.1K)
Defense
Vince Dunn - DK $4.2K || FD $4.5K
Opponent - Dallas Stars
Dunn’s salary did not move from his last performance where he managed 1 assist and 2 shots. Through 2 games in this series, he now has 2 assists, 5 shots and 5 blocked shots and in 7 games in the playoffs, he has 1 goal, 2 assists, 19 shots and 13 blocked shots. He is a peripheral machine in the post-season and against a high-flying Stars team in Seattle, Dunn will be one of the critical pieces in hopes of winning Game 3.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Rielly (DK $5.5K || FD $6K), Pesce (DK $3.4K || FD $3.9K)
