NHL DFS Goalies
Vitek Vanecek- DK $7.9K || FD $7.5K
Opponent - Calgary Flames
Vanecek not only has a decent chance to win tonight due to the poor form that Calgary is in, but he will also have one of the best opportunities to have a ceiling game thanks to Calgary’s high-octane offense. The Flames are the third-best team in terms of shot volume – shots for per 60 (36.47) –. However, they rank near the middle of the league in terms of scoring chances for per 60 – 31.02 –. This provides a terrific opportunity for Vanecek to make numerous saves from less-dangerous attempts. Since his ugly start to the season – conceding 6 goals in 1.25 games –, he has won 5 straight starts while maintaining a save percentage above 0.900%.
Others To Consider (Cash/GPP): Comrie (DK $8K || FD $7.6K), Hart (DK $7.3K || FD $8.6K)
NHL DFS Centers
Tage Thompson-DK $7.5K || FD $9.7K
Opponent - Arizona Coyotes
Once again we have the Coyotes on the slate and once again we will highlight their opposition. Thompson is living up to the hype that he was originally drafted for by the St. Louis Blues. The top-line pivot finally broke out last season, tallying 38 goals, 30 assists and 253 shots in 78 games. This year he has 7 goals, 8 assists and 47 shots through 12 games. He is on pace to set new career highs in every category and he is doing it with ease. The Coyotes are the second-worst in the league in shots against per 60 – 36.97 – and scoring chances against per 60 – 37.33 –. They are also the third-worst team in the league in goals against per 60 – 4.09 – and expected goals against per 60 – 3.8 –. This looks like a prime matchup for Thompson and the Sabres.
Derick Brassard- DK $2.6K || FD $3.3K
Opponent - Vancouver Canucks
In what is a massive salary saver, Brassard looks to be back on the second-line for the Senators. The veteran pivot has been in and out of form since returning to the lineup. However, that also accounts for the mix of teammates he has played with. When he returned he saw a quick stint on the second-line with teammates Alex DeBrincat and Claude Giroux where he thrived. He was then sent down to the fourth-line. Now he returns to the second-line, but this time with teammates DeBrincat and Drake Batherson. The Canucks do not provide many opportunities to score, however, their goaltending has been less than stellar conceding the fourth-most goals in the league per 60 – 3.94 –. At bottom of the barrel salary, this is worth taking a shot at.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Eichel (DK $7.2K || FD $7.3K), Hughes (DK $6.7K || FD $7.2K)
NHL DFS Wings
Kirby Dach- DK $3.9K || FD $4.9 ** Dach is listed as center on FanDuel **
Opponent - Detroit Red Wings
Dach and the entire Canadiens’ top-line are on fire and there is no doubting it. The center, now converted winger, has 1 goal, 6 assists and 8 shots in four games since being moved to the top-line. Whether he is able to score or not against the Red Wings, he will at least get every chance to shoot the puck. The Red Wings are near the top of the league in goals against per 60 – 2.89 – and scoring chances against per 60 – 29.91 –. However, they do concede a shot volume per game – 33.38 shots –.
Owen Tippett- DK $3.6K || FD $5K
Opponent - St Louis Blues
Tippett has yet to break out in the NHL after having a very successful career in the OHL before being drafted by the Florida Panthers. The winger now on his second team in his short tenure in the league is getting a promotion to the top line and top power-play unit. Through 6 appearances this season, Tippett has 2 goals, 1 assist, 13 shots and 5 blocked shots. This production is coming from bottom-six minutes and a lack of teammate quality. Now that he is in a top-six role, he will have numerous opportunities to add to his totals and more. He is also averaging 3 shots per game which is very ideal for ‘cash’ lineups. The Blues have the second-worst defense on the slate, making this matchup an ideal spot for the young winger.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Tuch (DK $6.7K || FD $7.1K), Stone (DK $5.4K || FD $6.4K)
NHL DFS Defensemen
Jordan Gross- DK $4.4K || FD $3.5K
Opponent - Seattle Kraken
After mentioning Jordan Gross in the Rotoballer Discord chat last week, he scored 2 goals and took 4 shots in that game. The defenseman is extremely talented and he is getting every chance to thrive in the Predators lineup, slotting alongside teammate Roman Josi on the top-pairing. Aside from the 2 goal performance last week, Gross has shown that he takes shots and blocks shots which offers immense value for someone seeing as much ice time as he is. The Kraken have found a grove, but Gross can offer a lot of value at his salary.
Owen Power- DK $3.2K || FD $4.7K
Opponent - Arizona Coyotes
This play will revolve around the injury news of teammate Rasmus Dahlin who has sat out the last few games. However, if Dahlin is ultimately out again, Power will be as close to a ‘cash-lock’ as you can get on defense. The defenseman is finding form right now with 5 assists, 9 shots and 2 blocked shots over his last 4 appearances. He is a very talented two-way defenseman and he can offer immense value going against the hapless Coyotes.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Hedman (DK $7.1K || FD $6.6K), Addison (DK $3.9K || FD $4.7K)
