ANALYSIS: Tim Hardaway Jr. started the season on the bench for the Dallas Mavericks but he's finally been thrust into a starting gig by coach Jason Kidd. It's been seven games in a row starting for Hardaway through Friday and the numbers have been gaudy.
Timmy has dumped at least 17 points on five of those seven games while finishing with six and eight points scored in the other two. That latter bit of information is not great, I know, but what if I tell you that those two games made it seven-for-seven for Hardaway with 2+ 3PM? Uh oh, that flex.
Hardaway has been absolutely unstoppable since becoming part of the Mavs' first unit. He's shooting the rock 14+ times per game and he's hit almost 48% of all of the shots he's taken since becoming a nightly starter. He's shot at least 45% in five of those seven games while scoring 5+ 3PM in each of them.
In his seven games starting, THJ has averaged 19+ PPG, 3.5 RPG, 1+ APG, and 1+ SPG. He's basically been an entirely different player in this first-unit role. Just for comparison shake, when Timmy was playing off the bench, he was averaging a measly 0.75 FP/min (league average at around 0.90), and since entering the starting five, he's at a 1.02 FP/min figure.
