Billy Hamilton has been a polarizing figure in fantasy baseball in the last two seasons. In 2015, he fell one stolen base short of Dee Gordon for the league lead (58). This type of speed can be an asset to any fantasy lineup.
But in order to have fantasy value, Billy Hamilton needs to steal bases. In order to steal bases, he needs to get on base. With a .272 OBP and a .226 AVG in 2015, it is surprising that he was able to steal as much as he did. Hamilton only scored 56 runs last year (one less than his stolen bases total), which seems almost impossible for someone who should be in scoring position often given the number of steals.
A good eye can only take a batter so far, so if you are looking for both speed and offensive production in 2016, look elsewhere.
