BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 11% of Yahoo! leagues
ANALYSIS: Blue Jays outfielder Teoscar Hernandez was a statcast darling last season, leading to many pundits to predict a big breakout for him in 2019. That has not even remotely been the case so far this year, as his hard-hit rate has plummeted while his strikeout rate has remained sky-high, leading to a demotion to Triple-A earlier this year.
He's back now though, and his numbers since July 1 are extremely useful in nearly all fantasy formats. He's slashing .274/.356/.632 with 12 home runs, 23 runs scored and 23 RBI. His 10.6% walk rate in that time makes him an excellent add in OBP leagues, and although his strikeout rate remains a staggering 32.6%, the rest of his production certainly makes him rosterable in 12+ team leagues.
Statcast doesn't like him quite as much as they did last season, but his 40.3% hard hit rate and 89.9 mile per hour exit velocity are both still above average, and have been trending upward over the last six weeks.
Toronto has a lot of great hitting around Hernandez, and he could easily be an RBI machine down the stretch, which makes him worth a look in 12+ team leagues.
