BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 1% of Yahoo! leagues
ANALYSIS: Blue Jays outfielder Teoscar Hernandez was a statcast darling last season, leading to many pundits to predict a big breakout for him in 2019. That has not even remotely been the case so far this year, as his hard-hit rate has plummeted while his strikeout rate has remained sky-high, leading to a demotion to Triple-A earlier this year.
He's back now though, and his numbers in June indicate that he may finally be figuring things out at the dish. He's still striking out 26.0% of the time, although that's way down from where he was previously. Additionally, he's slashing .261/.320/.609 with four home runs, four doubles and nine RBI.
His HR/FB rate is through the roof, indicating his power sure may be a tad flukey, but the raw power in Hernandez's bat has never been in question. If he can keep his strikeout rate around 25%, he could have sneaky value in deeper leagues for the rest of the season.
He's one to keep an eye on in 12-team leagues, and is worth a speculative add in any format deeper than that.
