Teddy Bridgewater (QB, CAR) - Week 16 Waiver Wire Pickups

ANALYSIS: While Teddy Bridgewater hasn't been close to a mindblowing player at the quarterback position this season, the truth is that he has been a rather good play for the whole year. Bridgewater has ranked outside the QB2 realm just once in the 13 games he's played (back in W2), and finished as a QB1 (top-12) in five of those 13 games, including four the past five matches. Not bad for a guy available in more than two of each three Yahoo leagues, am I right?

Bridgewater has stepped up his game of late. He has scored 20+ FP in three of his last five games, and in the other two, he finished with 14.9 and 16.9 FP. His combined line in those last five games reads 124-of-184 completions, 1,254 passing yards, 5 passing touchdowns, and just 2 interceptions and a single fumble. He has been excellent running, too, logging 104 yards in those five games including four rushing touchdowns.

It was quite nice to see Bridgewater finish with a QB1 tally against Green Bay (4th-best defense against fantasy quarterbacks this season) last Saturday, and he'll be facing Washington this week. The Footies rank 9th against fantasy QBs, which isn't the easiest of matchups but should still be reasonably manageable for Bridgewater given what he's shown during the past few weeks.

Bridgewater is a must-add-and-start for those in 2QB leagues, a very good play for those needy GMs in 14-team and deeper formats, and I'd go ahead and say that if you're streaming the position in a slightly shallower format (12 teams) you might still find value in Bridgewater in Championship Sunday.
