BALLER MOVE: Start in 12+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: WR3/FLEX
ANALYSIS: Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell has had an ice-cold start to the 2024 season, and managers may attribute that to the addition of Stefon Diggs to the team, but Dell has been shaking off rust in his first two games and is still a solid bet to have a high scoring ceiling.
Dell had a mediocre Week 1 and followed it up with a miserable Week 2, scoring just 2.3 PPR Fantasy points. However, Dell has been very close to huge plays in both weeks, and it's only a matter of time before he and Stroud connect for another explosive effort.
Maybe I'm being stubborn, but not throwing in the towel on Tank Dell.
* Has run 66 routes on 77 Stroud dropbacks
* Been schemed 5 carries
* Has a reasonable 16.1% target share
* 14.4 aDOT is 16th among 84 qualifying WRs
* Narrative far different if he makes these two plays: pic.twitter.com/DgpLuVn4IQ— Adam Levitan (@adamlevitan) September 16, 2024
In Week 1, Stroud just slightly underthrew a pass to Dell on a route in which Dell burns the outside corner and beats him deep. The throw was a few feet away from being a 42-yard touchdown.
Then in Week 2, Dell got behind the Bears defense, burning his defender yet again but dropping what could've been at worst a 25-yard gain and at best a 70-yard touchdown. Dell and Stroud are a bit out of sync, but this is something that should be corrected soon.
When Dell and Stroud are on the same page and Dell is a bit less rusty, Dell will have more massive games. Don't forget he's dealt with a ton this offseason, recovering from a broken leg and a gunshot wound. Dell will eat, it will just require patience from his fantasy managers.
