The NASCAR Cup Series ran the GEICO 500 this past Sunday afternoon at Talladega Superspeedway and chaos ensued on the final lap--just as everyone expected. With Michael McDowell and Brad Keselowski fighting for the win, the two wrecked each other (and most of the field) and it allowed Tyler Reddick to steal the win.
Noah Gragson, who finished third, had the best Average Running Position during the race (10.71). He was followed by Austin Cindric, Kyle Busch, and Michael McDowell in that statistic, who all three finished outside of the top 20. Todd Gilliland, who finished eighth, was fifth-best in ARP.
Of the top five finishers in this weekend's race, Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. had the worst Average Running Position (21.85), ranking just 27th-best in that statistic but finishing fourth. Stenhouse was able to miss the wreck at the end and that is how he got that good finish.
