On Saturday afternoon, the NASCAR Cup Series held the qualifying session for Sunday's YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway.
This qualifying session consisted of two rounds. The ten fastest drivers from the first round advanced to the second round and ran a second qualifying lap to determine the starting order from first-place through 10th-place.
The ten fastest drivers that advanced out of the first round were: Aric Almirola, Joey Logano, Chase Briscoe, Kyle Larson, Brad Keselowski, Riley Herbst, Austin Cindric, William Byron, Bubba Wallace, and Ryan Blaney.
