ANALYSIS: At this point, it is fair to assume Talen Horton-Tucker is the new-but-established point guard of the Utah Jazz, right? It’s now been 10 games in a row for THT starting at the point (all of the matches Utah has played after the All-Star break), and he’s been so good that it’d make little sense to change anything this late into the season and with a shot at landing a top-three draft spot.
THT had a career game last weekend when he put up a 37-8-10 stat line against the Hornets that had him really close to bagging a triple-double, just missing on it by a couple of rebounds. Most impressive, though, were the 10 assists after he had reached that figure just once all year long (and more than four months ago!).
That’s the new THT for you. Since returning from the All-Star break and turning into the starting point guard of the Jazz, THT has averaged a 17-5-5 per-game stat line without really playing an unreasonable amount of minutes (29 MPG). He is getting high usage rates (27.5%) though, bordering the insane as of late (33% in the last four matchups).
If your league uses a format in which turnovers are considered, watch out. THT is losing 4.3 TOPG as a starting point guard because of the leading role he’s been given. Only Trae Young is turning the ball over 4+ times per game this season, but he’s dishing out 10+ dimes to compensate. Not THT, my friends.
All things considered, though, Horton-Tucker is definitely a must-add fantasy player for the remainder of the season considering his role, his overall impact, and his contributions all across the board no matter the stat you’re in need of nor the format you manage.
