BALLER MOVE: Start in all leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: TE1
ANALYSIS: A change at quarterback can bring concern to fantasy managers who depend on those signal callers to connect with their star wideouts and tight ends. Who is this new quarterback going to lean on? Who is his favorite target going to be? Can he support multiple options in the passing game?
For Nick Mullens, the answer to question three could be a yes. The veteran has thrown for over 275 yards in seven of his 17 career starts. The Vikings utilize an offense that suits Mullens' strengths. With a plethora of strong receiving options, there shouldn't be a big struggle for the Minnesota offense.
As for the answers to the first two questions, when Mullens entered last week's game midway through the fourth quarter and led a game-winning field goal drive, he had eyes for T.J. Hockenson. The tight end caught four of his five passes on the afternoon from Mullens.
The return of All-Pro Justin Jefferson could alter Mullens' tendencies, but Hockenson has a dream matchup on the other side of the field. The Cincinnati Bengals allow the most yards, receptions, and second-most touchdowns to tight ends this season. It hasn't slowed down in recent weeks, either. Pat Freiermuth posted career-best marks in catches and yards a few weeks ago. Evan Engram followed that up with a 9/82/1 stat line. Even Will Mallory rumbled for 46 yards on five catches last week.
The matchup couldn't be better for one of the NFL's elite tight ends. Hockenson has a real chance to finish the week as the TE1.
