ANALYSIS: It's virtually impossible to find a player as efficient as Steven Adams is. In a fantasy world in which the average NBA player puts up around 0.90 FP/min, Adams is currently averaging 1.04 fantasy points per minute and an even better 1.10-figure in December (six games) alone.
You can expect such numbers from the likes of Nikola Jokic or Joel Embiid, for sure, but to find Adams doing that while still available in more than half of all ESPN leagues is just ludicrous. You don't even need to get into the fantasy realm to understand why: Adams is one of only 11 players averaging 10+ boards on the year.
Adams might have missed time and only appeared in 17 games to date, yes, but that doesn't take from his level of play. Still 29- years-old (yes, I know it sounds ridiculous), Adams is the ultimate team player, hoisting fewer than six FGA but hitting them at a 60% clip. The freebies stink, though, at a putrid 33% on nearly three FTA per game.
When it comes to pure defensive stats, Adams is one of 30 players contributing 0.5+ SPG and 1+ BPG on the season. Raising the bar to his actual averages (0.8 and 1.2), there are only eight players meeting those lofty heights. Through Saturday, just three of those are also adding 10+ RPG nightly: Adams, Anthony Davis, and Rudy Gobert.
