Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. is expected to take the field on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers. Smith was knocked out of Week 4's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers with a back injury, which also caused him to miss Week 5's game against the Cleveland Browns.
The Ravens get Smith back after falling to the Browns, 33-30, in his absence. Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco will be happy to get his deep-threat play-maker back after throwing for only 210 yards and one touchdown against the Browns. Smith has definitely been Flacco's favorite weapon so far, catching 29 passes for 373 yards and two touchdowns so far this year.
Smith owners should consider playing him against a suspect 49ers defense. While Smith is in what's he's said will be his final year, he has shown repeatedly that he is still able to play at a high level so far this season. He's clearly Flacco's best wide receiver and certainly has plenty of gas left in the tank to burn defenders. Go ahead and play Smith this week, but keep an eye on his status before game time just in case.
