BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team PPR Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 10% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Conflicting games by Sterling Shepard in the first two weeks of the 2022 season, right? That's correct, but so is the fact that while the actual production of the wideout went down from Week 1 to Week 2, his usage was larger and he featured as the main option for the Giants more times this past weekend than in the season's kick-off game.
Shepard had a nice WR2-level debut two weeks ago putting up 15.1 PPR points thanks to scoring a touchdown on just two receptions (for 71 yards). That was probably a little bit unsustainable and it was going to be hard to replicate given the über-efficient numbers.
Of course, Shepard only finished with 9.4 PPR points last Sunday, something much more reasonable, but he was targeted a team-high 10 times turning six of those passes into reception though flopping to just 34 receiving yards and no touchdowns against Carolina. The best news, of course, was that no other player from the Giants got more than six looks (Richie James) nor finished more than 0.7 PPR points ahead of Shepard (James again).
Only Davis Sills (67) appeared in more snaps than Shepard (66) in Week 2, although Sills was targeted just four times to Shepard's 10. No other Giant reached even 30 snaps last Sunday, with Darius Slayton and Kenny Golladay only appearing in four and two respectively.
Before getting injured last season and prior to his W14-W15 comeback games, Shepard had three games of 17+ PPR points in which he caught seven, nine, and ten passes and finished as a top-8, top-20, and top-19 WR in those weeks respectively. That's probably his ceiling, but he should be a good option to deploy weekly at the Flex slot with upside for some 10-to-14 weekly PPR outcomes.
