BALLER MOVE: Add in 14-Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 2% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Houston has already had a very interesting year with Russell Westbrook and James Harden getting shipped to D.C. and Brooklyn, John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins reuniting as Rockets, Victor Oladipo soon joining them, and a host of unsung players waiting in the wings. Due to the reshuffling and persistent injury/health hiccups, Stephen Silas has opted for considerable experimentation with the rotation, leading to the awakening of four-year pro Sterling Brown in his first season as a Rocket. After a three-year stint in Milwaukee, Brown is playing a career-high 20.0 minutes a game, and in that time has averaged 7.5 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.1 steals, and 1.5 three-pointers out of 3.5 attempts (42.9%, 8.4% better than his clip with the Bucks).
His efficiency on both ends has benefitted from the increased PT, and he has been able to put together admirable outings for Fantasy Basketball Managers, despite that time still being comparably mild, behind career-high figures for effective field goal rate (59.7%), true shooting percentage (61.0%), and steal percentage (2.5%), while reaching a career-low turnover rate of 8.9%, which is a 4.4% improvement from last season. True to the Rockets' identity, their roster is jammed with combo guards and forwards with similar skill sets; but his PT has stayed steady, his role keeps transforming as more players return to activity, and he should get some breathing room with Kevin Porter; Mason Jones; Kenyon Martin; and Brodric Thomas being designated for G-League play. Though it's been a slower start from deep to start this month, Sterling Brown's precision on three-pointers combined with his active perimeter defense have cemented a spot for him in an otherwise chaotic rotation, providing the time he needs to meaningfully contribute for those in deeper leagues.
