Steelers Release Former First-Round Pick
The Steelers made several roster moves ahead of their Week 10 meeting with the Commanders. The most notable was the decision to release former first-round pick Terrell Edmonds. The safety was selected in the opening round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Edmonds put together multiple seasons as part of the Steel Curtain defense before spending time with the Eagles, Titans, and Jaguars. He rejoined the Steelers earlier this year.
His release comes as Pittsburgh's Cam Sutton returns from a multiple-game suspension. Edmonds' departure clears the way for Sutton to slot in at the nickel cornerback position for Mike Tomlin's squad.
Returning Players and Additional Roster Moves Ahead of Week 10
In addition to Cam Sutton, the Steelers anticipate the return of swiss-army-knife player Cordarrelle Patterson ahead of Week 10. Patterson is a dynamic threat on special teams and has also logged some productive snaps at running back this season.
Pittsburgh landed wide receiver Mike Williams in a trade with the New York Jets before the NFL deadline. Mike Tomlin also added to his already-stout defense with the addition of EDGE rusher Preston Smith.

The Steelers also waived veteran running back Jonathan Ward this week which helps clear the way for Tyler Matakevich and Ben Skowronek, who are returning from stints on Injured Reserve.
