It’s a bittersweet moment for me. I love doing these columns for RotoBaller, but unfortunately the fantasy baseball season is just about over. I’ve savored every moment preparing and drafting my selections for you, and I’m excited to do it again next year. I hope you've enjoyed reading these selections as much as I have liked writing them. If you have any suggestions or comments on how to improve for next season, I’m all ears. Actually, I guess I’m all eyes.
Below are some of my starting pitcher streamer sleepers for the second half of Week 26 to consider adding off your league’s waiver wire. Some of these SP options can be considered sleepers for your team depending on the league format and depth, including NL-Only, AL-Only and head-to-head formats.
Thursday SP Streamers
Edinson Volquez (PIT at ATL)
Ownership: 42% Yahoo!, 24% Fleaflicker
Now that Pittsburgh has celebrated its second straight postseason clinch and it appears the hangover is over, the Pirates can get back to their winning ways. They’ve recorded twenty-two wins out of their last thirty-two games, and Edinson Volquez hasn’t given up more than three earned runs since late July.
MATCHUP RATING: Solid Stream
David Buchanan (PHI at MIA)
Ownership: 4% Yahoo!, 3% Fleaflicker
The Fish have been downright awful at the dish since the loss of Giancarlo Stanton. Buchanan has been relatively good in an otherwise forgettable Philadelphia season. Trust in Buchanan.
MATCHUP RATING: Solid Stream
Friday SP Streamers
Nick Tepesch (TEX vs. OAK)
Ownership: 1% Yahoo!, 2% Fleaflicker
The young Rangers’ righty isn’t a blow-away option by any means, but Oakland has been that bad since the trade deadline. Look for Tepesch to go six innings with okay numbers.
MATCHUP RATING: Risky Stream
Ryan Vogelsong (SF vs. SD)
Ownership: 21% Yahoo!, 18% Fleaflicker
This has danger start written all over it. The Giants are one game under .500 (15-16) when Vogelsong starts this season. He’s had great success at home- 2.95 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 15.6% K-BB rate-- but some of the Padres really have his number.
MATCHUP RATING: Desperate Stream
Saturday SP Streamers
Eric Stults (SD at SF)
Ownership: 2% Yahoo!, 4% Fleaflicker
With seven quality starts since the beginning of August and a 2.92 ERA in his past 10 outings, it’s clear Stults has found a groove. It’s a shame the Padres have been so inept at the plate this season, because they certainly have the pitching depth to compete with any team in October. There’s always 2015.
MATCHUP RATING: Solid Stream
Danny Duffy (KC at CHW)
Ownership: 43% Yahoo!, 15% Fleaflicker
Duff-Man will be thrusting the Royals in the direction of the playoffs! Oh, yeah! Who wants to party?!
MATCHUP RATING: Must Stream
Sunday SP Streamers
Nick Tropeano (HOU at NYM)
Ownership: 1% Yahoo!, 0% Fleaflicker
Tropeano is from just down the right of Citi Field, so I expect him to be pumped in front of a large amount of friends and family in the crowd. In fact, they may be the only ones in the crowd for this start.
MATCHUP RATING: Risky Stream
Josh Collmenter (ARI vs. STL)
Ownership: 15% Yahoo!, 10% Fleaflicker
It’s been a train wreck of a season for the Diamondbacks, but Collmenter has been a rock, especially in his last six starts with a 1.29 ERA. The Cards will counter with Adam Wainwright, so it’ll be tough for Collmenter to get the win, but he should have otherwise impressive numbers.
