BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 2% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: The Blue Jays badly need an infusion of talent on offense, and therefore they have finally called up 26-year-old first baseman Spencer Horwitz from Triple-A Buffalo.
Horwitz has demonstrated some elite on-base skills in 2023 and 2024 at the Triple-A level. He hit .337 with a .450 OBP last year and was hitting .335 with a .456 OBP this year before being called up. The Blue Jays wasted no time slotting him into the 2-hole in his debut, and then he led off on Sunday against Oakland, going 1-4 at the plate.

He's not a traditional first baseman when it comes to statistical production, as he only hit 42 home runs in the minor leagues across 1660 at-bats. However, he's a doubles machine who has walked more than he has struck out now in three straight seasons. He can even swipe some bags, as he's racked up 28 stolen bases across his five seasons in the minor leagues.
He's an elite add in any league that counts OBP, as you simply don't see too many minor-league hitters who can consistently post numbers around .450. He makes for a solid deep-league add in standard 5x5 leagues. Just know that you're not going to get as many HR and RBI as you typically do from a corner infielder, and Horwitz's statistical strengths (AVG, R, SB) are more similar to middle infielders or outfielders.
