Welcome back race fans. The playoffs are here after a long 26-race regular season and now the top 16 in the standings will battle to take home the hardware at Homestead, Miami in November.
The playoffs start with a trip back to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the South Point 400 this Sunday afternoon. The track is a 1.5-mile D-Shaped Oval intermediate with 20 degrees of progressive banking.
For fantasy, we will be focusing on dominator points to build our core driver pool. Over the last six races at Las Vegas, one driver has led 100 or more laps in four of those races. Each of the last two winners(Kevin Harvick & Martin Truex Jr.) have also led 150 or more laps. Let's jump into the picks.
Daily Fantasy NASCAR: DraftKings and FanDuel DFS Lineup Picks - South Point 400
Kyle Larson(DK-$10,700 FD-$12,400)
While I will have exposure to the "Big 3", I like the idea of saving some salary and building around Kyle Larson. He provides some place differential starting 11th this week and is coming off back to back Top 5 finishes here.
Ryan Blaney(DK-$9,200 FD-$11,000)
Down in the next tier of pricing, Ryan Blaney stands out as a terrific value this week. He doesn't provide place differential value starting 6th but has shown a ton of speed in the final two practices ranking inside the Top 3. He struggled here in his first trip to Vegas in 2015(30th) but since has finished 7th or better in three straight. He is in play in all formats.
Ryan Newman(DK-$7,600 FD-$9,000)
Newman will start 22nd this week providing us some place differential value in mid range of pricing. What makes the place differential upside even more intriguing is the fact he has finished inside the Top 20 in five straight and eight of his last nine races here with for Top 10's. He led the second practice on Saturday and is currently Top 5 in the final practice. At these prices, he is in play in all formats.
Bubba Wallace(DK-$5,700 FD-$5,600)
Bubba comes back to Las Vegas for the second time in a Cup car and impressed with a 21st place finish in the spring. This time around he will start 31st providing some place differential value and showed speed in the final practices ranking 15th and 21st. At his price, he deserves consideration in all formats.
