The NASCAR Cup Series ran the Toyota / Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway on Sunday afternoon, and it was Kyle Larson who got the win at the second road course event for the year. It was his third victory of the season and Larson now sits atop the points standings after Denny Hamlin, who was leading the points heading into the weekend, suffered a blown engine on lap two.
When it came to Green Flag Speed, Larson was the quickest in that statistic during the Sonoma race and was followed by his teammate, Chase Elliott. Third-quickest was Ryan Blaney, who finished seventh, followed by Martin Truex Jr, who ranked fourth-fastest in Green Flag Speed but finished 27th after running out of fuel on the last lap. Ross Chastain, who finished fifth, also ranked fifth-fastest in Green Flag Speed.
Of the top-five finishers, Chris Buescher was the lowest-ranking in Green Flag Speed. He was ninth-fastest in that statistic but finished third. A big part of this is because Buescher started deep in the field, and the No. 17 team had to make some strategy calls to get him to the front for the end of the race.
