Welcome to our Sleeper NBA DFS prop picks for Wednesday, January 17. Wednesday looks to continue an entertaining week of NBA basketball with a massive 10- game slate. All three of Tuesday’s games involved some level of drama, especially the Suns unexpectedly-late, 4th quarter comeback. The Kings blew a 22-point lead with around eight minutes left in the game, marking the 4th largest comeback in NBA history. Although no teams are playing on the second night of a back-to-back Tuesday, the Knicks, Raptors, Jazz, and Timberwolves all play Thursday as well, so keep an eye out for lineup adjustments.
Sleeper offers some of the best and easiest-to-win NBA DFS games in the industry. Sleeper DFS works just like regular player prop betting -- there are no large-field tournaments to get lost in. NBA DFS Props - Over/Under Picks for Wednesday, January 17
Jimmy Butler UNDER 5.5 Rebounds
In his return, Jimmy Butler scored 30 points in a one-point victory over the Nets. The Heat weren’t struggling without Butler and now that he’s back, he should go back to the role he naturally fills. He doesn’t pull from other players stats unless he absolutely has to and he rarely exerts extra energy trying to grab rebounds when he has Bam Adebayo and other more active players to do it for him.
When it comes to offense, there is no right answer. Every game is a different story and Butler’s end-of-the-night statline depends on how close the game more than anything. Butler doesn’t chase scoring milestones, but he will take the game into his own hands if he needs to and we can avoid that specific risk of a good-game by betting on rebounds.
Dillon Brooks OVER 4.5 Rebounds + Assists
The Knicks are never a great team to bet against because their impact on opposing teams creates such varied results. Unless you are hitting outside shots, the Knicks are going to give you a close game and their most recent loss to the Magic was just the third time a Knicks opponent scored under 100 points and won. The Rockets may not matchup well, but they live and die by the three and Brooks is a main proponent of that.
It might seem counterintuitive to take his rebound and assist prop, but how many times do you have to watch Dillon Brooks to know that scoring points isn’t his strong suit and never will be. He wants to play defense. He wants to take the toughest defensive matchup each night and he wants to be that role-playing, glue-guy that does all the little things. Two of those things being rebounding and making the extra pass.
Kris Dunn OVER 0.5 Turnovers
Utah is 13-3 when Kris Dunn starts and although that’s a very manipulative stat to use, he’s been a focal point within the offense regardless of usage. He’s generating offense whenever he steps on the court and his unselfish play has led to an abundance of turnovers for a low-minute player. The Jazz being on the front-end of a back-to-back means high-usage stars like Lauri Markkanen, Jordan Clarkson, and Collin Sexton could see less minutes in exchange for rest.
Neither the Warriors or Thunder qualify as a ‘rest team,’ but the Warriors are clearly the weaker link of the two and a non-divisional opponent. Utah won’t purposefully lose games, but knowing that a matchup versus the Thunder has greater playoff implications, expect any changes or experimentations to happen tonight rather than Thursday versus Oklahoma City.
