NBA DFS Props - Over/Under Picks for Friday, October 27th
Ausar Thompson UNDER 18.5 Points+Rebounds+Assists
We are just three days in and already taking the under on rookies would have proved beneficial. Ausar Thompson posted five blocks and filled the stat sheet, but didn’t exactly excel anywhere outside of his shot-blocking in his first NBA game.
It’s promising from a developmental standpoint, although the Pistons aren’t going to look to feed him shots or opportunities until he’s improved on the 1-7 shooting. The Hornets don’t offer a ton of defense so he has upside for that reason, but we should be able to avoid most of that by taking the under on his Points+Rebounds+Assists line.
Ben Simmons OVER 12.5 Rebounds+Assists
Feel free to include his points here, but that risk is on you. We know Ben Simmons can score, but the rate which he does compared to his rebounding and assist/point-creation is not even close. We need consistency when it comes to betting and if there’s one thing we can be sure it’s Ben Simmons doing everything but scoring.
The Nets lack a true playmaker and Simmons fills that role perfectly. Brooklyn might have used a 10-man rotation in the first game, but Simmons made it evident he needs to be out there. Posting ten rebounds and nine assists in just 22 minutes your first game back is very promising.
Ziaire Williams UNDER 21.5 Points+Rebounds+Assists
There seems to be a misconception among fans that getting paid leads to better stats. It might give the player more incentive, but in no way does it shape the results and outcome. Ziaire Williams has entered his third season and at this point, it’s clear he’s not a strong scorer or a strong offensive asset.
The Grizzlies have never utilized his shooting, but maybe that’s because he fails to utilize it himself. Nevertheless, playing the defending champs won’t help his case. He’ll be facing one of either Aaron Gordon, Michael Porter Jr. or Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and none of those options help upside. He may not be a rookie, but a big game from Williams here is about as fluky as it gets.
