Welcome to our Sleeper NBA DFS prop picks for Friday, January 5. Even if you didn’t get a chance to watch last night’s Nuggets-Warriors game, you still probably saw Nikola Jokic’s heroic game-winner anyway. Victor Wembanyama’s show out performance versus Giannis Antetokounmpo shouldn’t get overlooked and started the two-game slate off on the right foot, but you couldn’t have scripted a better ending to the night with how Jokic finished that game. Friday hosts a monstrous 14-game slate to work with and is a perfect rebound to Thursday, especially before a fairly quiet NBA weekend.
Sleeper offers some of the best and easiest-to-win NBA DFS games in the industry. Sleeper DFS works just like regular player prop betting -- there are no large-field tournaments to get lost in. NBA DFS Props - Over/Under Picks for Friday, January 5
Jae'Sean Tate OVER 3.5 Rebounds
The Proptimizer isn’t a fan of any of these bets, but we also know that the Proptimizer can be very, very wrong at times. Under most circumstances, Jae'Sean Tate is barely seeing above 20 minutes and he’s for sure not focusing on scoring whatsoever. That would make the under bet a great target since it’s playing into his strengths, but lately he’s getting the minutes and is usually in a position to contribute someway or somehow.
With his points line sitting at 7.5, it's still considered a stretch given the fact he’d rather pass than shoot, but when it comes to rebounding and assists, he rarely fails to contribute. Out of the last three games, Tate played over 30 minutes in the two that weren’t blowouts and still managed to record three rebounds in a game the Rockets did get blown out in and where Tate played less minutes.
Tobias Harris OVER 23.5 Points + Rebounds
Once again, the Proptimizer likes the under, but the over is what makes sense. When betting on the NBA, you have to be aware of trends and lately one of those trends has been Tobias Harris’ contributions to this offense. The 76ers have been hot all year, but Harris was averaging a little over 16 points throughout most of season. Over the last two weeks though, Harris has jumped to an impressive 23.2 PPG, adding just under seven rebounds a game.
Before we smash a Tobias Harris over, there are two glaring drawbacks that need to be addressed. First, the Knicks don’t concede a ton of stats to opposing players and their one weakness is letting up points to good three-point shooters. Not exactly what Harris is known for and secondly, he hasn’t scored over 20 points in Madison Square Garden in his last three games there. Those might seem like daunting and somewhat irrelevant numbers for an aging small forward, but when a midrange artist is hot, there’s no reason to bet against him when he’s needed.
Bradley Beal OVER 20.5 Points
If there's only going to be two of the three superstars available for the Suns, we have two options. Either we take the over for Devin Booker or Bradley Beal, or take some form of an Eric Gordon/Grayson Allen over bet. Phoenix has the talent to supplement superstar production, but winning usually requires drastically increased effort on offense from either Gordon or Allen.
Devin Booker and Bradley Beal know how to create offense for teammates and despite Beal seeming like he’s struggling, he’s scored at least 21 points in three straight games. Much of that is thanks to Kevin Durant’s absence, but points are points, bets are bets, and money’s money.
If Beal’s line is sitting at 20 points and is playing a defense that should force him and Devin Booker into doing everything, sign me up. The Heat have talent, but there is no defense for unstoppable offense. This game staying close should be the deal-breaker, but don’t be surprised if we see an abnormally high-scoring game from one of the two Suns superstars and a complete failure to contribute from their bench.
