Welcome to our Sleeper NBA DFS prop picks for Friday, December 29. It almost happened. Obviously, the streak continues, but the Pistons almost had one. They blew the game in the second half and while it seems fans are blaming coaching, Monty Williams didn’t miss shot after shot after shot. A timeout during the Celtics' comeback would have undoubtedly helped, but regardless of momentum, you have to score points to win games. Boston was heating up in the second half while Detroit was coming back down to earth, making for a truly unfortunate recipe that led to another Pistons loss. On a positive note, this is the exact effort that is going to end the streak.

NBA DFS Props - Over/Under Picks for Friday, December 29
Paul Reed UNDER 9.5 Rebounds
Without Joel Embiid, the over has to be your go-to play. First night of a back-to-back for a reserve center is a prop-betting dream come true. If you can bet on a double-double, it’ll be hard not to jump at the opportunity, but for now, his lines are sitting at 9.5 points and 9.5 rebounds are too good to pass up…only if Joel Embiid does not play.
The Proptimizer is assuming the under and Embiid playing makes it a more-than-viable play. For Reed to come out of nowhere and post a huge game off the bench under limited minutes is highly unlikely since he hasn’t done it all year and the only thing that has freed his upside is Embiid being sidelined. Not that it matters, but the Rockets and Bulls are in the top half when it comes to limiting opposing teams scoring across the board.
Chet Holmgren OVER 27.5 Points+ Rebounds+ Assists
Not to harp on bad news, but without Aaron Gordon, the defensive dynamic of this Nuggets' roster shifts in the wrong direction. Justin Holiday is going to be a top reserve for the time being and most likely thrusted into a much larger role than expected, but ultimately it won’t have an impact in a game against the Thunder and someone with Chet Holmgren’s skill set. Even though the Proptimizer favors Holmgren's rebound + assist prop more than anything, it’s difficult not to bet on his bread and butter: offense.
There is very little downside here with Denver’s defense needing such a dramatic help and the next few games are going to be a disaster while they figure out who guards who. The Nuggets have zero players ready to fill Gordon’s role and even if they have the size, someone like Peyton Watson is not creating the same defensive impact. Holmgren and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander should have a field day running this offense Friday night.
Spencer Dinwiddie OVER 3.5 Rebounds
As he develops more and more into a true veteran for younger teammates, Spencer Dinwiddie’s stats continue to take a hit. He’s not the main contributor on offense anymore, but that doesn’t stop his total involvement in the game itself. While his points may start to dwindle, his willingness to utilize his teammates and set them up for success has risen drastically.
He’s playing more intense defense, albeit with moderate and mixed results, and he’s putting increased effort into the smaller aspects of the game. The more Dinwiddie strays from scoring, the more we can rely on him to do the minor things that win games like rebounding, making the extra pass, and initiating fast breaks. Against the Wizards, he will get a chance to do everything.
