Kansas City Chiefs 2022 second-round draft pick Skyy Moore significantly underperformed his Average Draft Position (ADP) last season.
In light of early career struggles, the sophomore has received numerous positive affirmations throughout the start of training camp. His Underdog ADP is up 21 spots in the last month and six in the last two weeks alone.
Drafters are clearly eager to select Moore. When does the upswing stop? Let's dig in.

All-Aboard The Skyy Moore Hype Train
Choo Choo! The buzz around Moore from Chiefs camp cannot be stopped. Coming from a small school, it's taken him time to develop and grow as a true NFL-caliber receiver. The Western Michigan product is now emerging as one of MVP Patrick Mahomes' starting and favorite wide receivers.
Moore's underlying metrics are solid: 36% (!) college target share in his final season, top 50 percentile size-adjusted speed, 32nd in route win rate, and top 50 percentile in yards per route run. Travis Kelce remains Mahomes' favorite target, but this Chiefs offense was bereft of a target-earning wide receiver after letting Tyreek Hill walk in free agency last season. Plus, their top two wideouts from 2022 are no longer on the roster.
What Could Go Wrong?
For whatever reason, Moore produced a paltry 5.6% target share in 16 games last season. 2022 was clearly a year of development and trial by fire in Kansas City.
Mecole Hardman Jr. and JuJu Smith-Schuster both led this wide receiver group with an 11% target share. Along with depth chart openings comes 182 empty targets to pass around. Doubling the sophomore's share only projects him around that 11% mark and a WR40 finish. Decent, but as the current WR45 in FFPC ADP, drafters want Moore.
The hope is for KC to utilize him all over the formation as their top wideout while becoming comfortable in an every-down role.
Barring injury, Moore won't be the target leader. Therefore, he needs to improve route running and earning targets to take the next step. A once-undervalued asset is finally settling in as WR44 at FFPC. It's difficult to select Moore any higher over rookies like Zay Flowers or fellow second-year receivers Jahan Dotson and Treylon Burks.
