The Baltimore Orioles are at the top of the American League East standings. After winning seven out of their last 10 games and the Yankees losing seven out of their last 10 games the Orioles now have a two-game lead on the Bronx Bombers. At 23 games over .500, the Orioles are looking to run away with one of the American League playoff spots. No matter how well a team is playing there's always room for improvement.
Baltimore has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to their farm system. They have more flexibility when it comes to their roster than any other team in MLB, whether it means making trades at the deadline or calling up any of their top prospects. None of which may be more exciting right now than their top third base prospect Coby Mayo.
Coby Mayo had 29 home runs in 504 AB last season.
He’s now at 19 in 213 this year.

Now I know what you're thinking. Mayo!? Gross nobody likes Mayo. Au contraire this may be the best Mayo you'll ever have. Mayo missed a month of the season with a fractured rib after slamming into the dugout trying to make a catch back on May 19th, but since his return from the injured list, he's been unstoppable. He's slashing a superb .309/.393/.651 in the minors this season with 21 home runs and 60 RBI. Mayo has hit a little bit of a cold spell in July only hitting .227 with one home run in six games, but do not let that deter you from stashing Mayo for your team. The kid is a future superstar.
How High Is Coby Mayo's Fantasy?
Baltimore's No. 3 prospect, per MLB.com, becomes a must-add fantasy player as soon as he gets the call. His bat may sit at the bottom of the Orioles lineup for a while, but that lineup is so deep he could provide plenty of value no matter where the kid bats in the lineup.
He could provide plenty of pop for those teams in need of home runs and RBIs down the stretch of the 2024 season and with how thin the third base position is you do not want to miss out on the chance to grab him off the waiver wire. I am not saying you're going to regret adding him before it's too late because he's going to be the next Austin Riley, but I am not, not saying it either.

When Might Coby Mayo Get A Major-League Opportunity?
The Florida high school star could be called up at any moment. The Orioles have been much more aggressive with promoting their prospects this season under new owner David Rubenstein. Jackson Holliday, Heston Kjerstad, Connor Norby, Cade Povich, and Colton Cowser have all made their big league debuts this season and now it's Coby Mayo's time to shine. Who knows Mayo could have gotten the opportunity already if it hadn't been for his rib injury.
Ramon Urias is sitting at the bottom of the order playing third base for the Orioles and is providing nothing to excite in the offensive department with only four home runs and a .239 batting average in 138 at-bats on the season.
The Orioles will be looking to fight off the Yankees for the AL East Pennant so don't be surprised if Mayo gets called up before or shortly after the all-star break. Grab him and his league-winning potential upside now before it's too late!
