Every point counts now that fantasy football leagues are in the home stretch. Therefore, any production from the DST position can spell the difference between success and defeat. No wonder managers diligently look for the unit that will propel them to the top.
The Seattle Seahawks are still in the NFC playoff hunt despite losing five of their last six games, including three straight setbacks since Week 14. However, their postseason chances can increase if they defeat the New York Jets, another team with playoff hopes, in Week 17. The Jets’ offense is averaging a measly 18.9 points per game, ranking 21st in the league.
In that regard, is starting the Seattle Seahawks DST a solid option as they face the Jets?

An Overview of the Seahawks DST in 2022 Fantasy Football
The Seahawks' defense has been underwhelming in 2022. They have surrendered the fourth-most points (25.3 per game) through Week 16 and are the second-worst in rushing yards allowed at 155.5 per game. While they have 36 sacks, NFL Fantasy ranks them 27th in the league.
Consequently, they have the second-worst pass-rush win rate at 33 percent and rank 20th in run-stop win rate at 30 percent. However, they are competing against a team with a 58 percent pass-block win rate (19th in the league) and a 69 percent run-block win rate (third-worst in 2022).
Should I Start The Seahawks DST In Week 17 Fantasy Football?
Several factors can help the Seahawks snatch a Week 17 victory over the Jets. Next Gen Stats reveals that Seattle’s secondary ranks sixth in defending deep passes, while the Jets rank 25th in completing throws of at least 20 yards.
The Seahawks allow 7.6 yards per attempt in deep passes, third-best in the league. In contrast, the Jets’ 58.8 passer rating on deep passes is the sixth lowest. This statistic is crucial, given the Jets’ usage of empty backfield formations in 14.1 percent of their offensive plays.
But even if the Jets have issues on offense, the key here is if the Seahawks can capitalize on their opponent’s blunders. Unfortunately, the outlook for Seattle’s defense is gloomy, with a projected score of 5.89 against New York. That said, it’s best to seek other options than the Seahawks DST in Week 17.
