With the NFL's November 1st trade deadline upon us, the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions agreed on terms to send tight end T.J. Hockenson to Minnesota in exchange for future draft picks.
The rare inter-divisional trade was likely spurred by Minnesota's incumbent tight end Irv Smith Jr.'s injury in Week 8, as well as Hockenson's contract situation.
So, now that he's in Minnesota, should we start T.J. Hockenson in Week 9 against the Washington Commanders?

Did T.J. Hockenson Get Traded To The Minnesota Vikings?
Yes, T.J. Hockenson was traded to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for future draft picks.
This rather rare inter-divisional trade was likely prompted by an injury to Minnesota's incumbent tight end, Irv Smith Jr., as well as Hockenson's contract situation.
What Has T.J. Hockenson Done This Season?
T.J. Hockenson has amassed 395 yards and three TDs on 26 receptions through seven games for the Lions this season. The former first-round pick flashed his upside earlier this season when he exploded for 179 yards and two TDs in a Week 4 win over the New Orleans Saints.
He currently ranks first among tight ends in yards per reception (15.2) and fifth in total receiving yards (395).
Should I Start T.J. Hockenson In Week 9 Fantasy Football?
The simple answer is yes. If Hockenson is active, he should be considered a must-start fantasy TE1 in Week 9 against the Washington Commanders. The Iowa product will immediately enter Minnesota's starting lineup in place of the injured Irv Smith Jr.
While there might be a learning curve when it comes to learning the Vikings' playbook and developing a rapport with new QB Kirk Cousins, Hockenson can be penciled in as the third option behind Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen in Minny's passing attack.
With quality options at the TE position once again hard to find in 2022, Hockenson will be in the TE1 conversation for the remainder of the season. While Travis Kelce and Mark Andrews-type numbers are likely out of the realm of possibility, the talented 25-year-old will have every chance to excel for fantasy managers in this Vikings offense.
