The running back pool in fantasy football is getting thinner than someone who cuts out carbs. With Saquon Barkley, Austin Ekeler, Nick Chubb, J.K. Dobbins and Aaron Jones all suffering injuries, it has never been more important than to make the right decisions with the running backs on your fantasy roster.
That is why one of the biggest risk-reward running backs around, Miami’s Raheem Mostert, is such an intriguing option – when he is healthy. He has been a monster through the first two weeks, rushing 28 times for 158 yards and three touchdowns, while averaging 5.6 yards per carry.
So should you start Mostert in Week 3 when his Miami Dolphins squad hosts the winless Denver Broncos? Here is my take.

Raheem Mostert Fantasy Football Outlook
Mostert has always been known as the perfect blend of size and speed, but his problem has been staying on the field thanks to countless injuries that ruined his 2020 and 2021 seasons, and a couple before that, too.
Denver has the 11th-ranked run defense in the NFL and will be desperate to win so they do not fall to 0-3, but Miami’s offense is clicking on all cylinders while their injury-prone superstars stay healthy. Mostert will get the bulk of the carries in a game Miami should win and have a second-half lead in.
Raheem Mostert is averaging 5.1 yards per carry...
BEFORE CONTACT
That's the best mark of any RB with 10+ carries.
No Wilson, no Ahmed, just a 187 LB rookie backing him up.
He's going to get fed at home against a Denver defense that couldn't stop Brian Robinson last week.

There is no reason he should not have 75-100 rushing yards and a TD or two. The only thing that could stop him is his own body, but remember that he was able to suit ip for 16 games last year.
Should I Start Raheem Mostert in Week 3?
Of course you should! You have to ride Mostert before his wheels fly off and he lands on the injured reserve, especially right now when he is running like Gale Sayers and has nobody behind him on the depth chart pushing him for touches.
Mostert is Miami’s bellcow back. No. 2 RB Jeff Wilson is still sidelined, and third stringer Salvon Ahmed has only carried the ball six times over the opening two games. Miami head honcho Mike McDaniel loves Mostert from back when they teamed together on the San Francisco 49ers and knows how to utilize Mostert’s skill set. That is why the talented back rushed for a career-high 891 yards last season.
Are you not entertained? Raheem Mostert leads the way!

Mostert is currently a top-10 fantasy RB thanks to the myriad of injuries around the league at the position, and because he has not suffered one himself. He should be used in all formats this week and the weeks to come unless he falls victim to his own injury or Wilson returns and steals half of the touches. Start Mostert and enjoy a solid stat line from him!
