James Cook Fantasy Football Outlook
Buffalo Bills running back James Cook is coming off one of his worst games of the season against the Bengals in Week 9, as he carried the ball six times for 20 yards and added four catches for 19 yards in the 24-18 loss. It ended a three-game stretch in which Cook had at least 13 carries and 56 rushing yards.
It was really just a game script issue though as the Bills trailed by multiple scores for much of the game. Quarterback Josh Allen threw 39 passes and backup running back Latavius Murray had just two carries.
Cook should find easier sledding this Monday night against the Denver Broncos, a team that allows more fantasy points per game to the running back position than any other team in the NFL.
Should I Start James Cook in Week 10?
The lack of touches last week for Cook is worrisome, but he's still been the Bills' lead back this season and this projects to be a game where the Bills will be able to keep the ball on the ground more often.
With how bad the Broncos have been against the run, Cook should be viewed as a solid RB2 play this week. In DFS contests, I prefer to volume of Broncos running back Javonte Williams if I had to pick between the two, but Cook has big-play upside in this one. There's a chance he ends up threatening his previous season high of 17 carries if the Bills can get off to an early lead.
