The fantasy football season is well on its way, and that means the injuries are surely piling up for your roster. Whether you have Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler (ankle) or Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb (knee), you might need a replacement at the running back position in Week 3.
Baltimore Ravens running back Gus Edwards could be a solid start this week. With Justice Hill (toe) already ruled out, Edwards is expected to be the team's lead back against the Indianapolis Colts.
So, should I start Edwards in Week 3? Let's take a closer look.

Gus Edwards Fantasy Football Outlook
Edwards has dealt with his fair share of injuries over his career. He tore his ACL during practice before the 2021 NFL season, which caused him to miss the entire year. Then, the veteran went on to miss eight total games during the 2022 season.
But Edwards appears to be fully healthy so far this season. With running back J.K. Dobbins suffering a torn Achilles in Week 1, the veteran is locked into a larger workload for the rest of the year.
In Week 2, Edwards and Hill almost evenly split the backfield touches with the former securing 10 touches for one touchdown. However, Hill will be inactive for Week 3, so Edwards will be in line to be the Ravens' RB1 against the Indianapolis Colts.
Gus Edwards Running Back Rankings Analysis
According to RotoBaller, Edwards comes in as the RB22 in half-PPR formats and 48th overall in the same leagues in Week 3. Our rankings put the veteran running back on the low-end RB2 spectrum for Sunday.
It makes sense to see Edwards ranked above players like James Conner, Alexander Mattison, and Jerome Ford in Week 3. With Hill inactive, the 28-year-old back will carry most of the work for the Ravens backfield. Baltimore did activate Melvin Gordon III and Kenyan Drake from the practice squad, but Edwards will surely be utilized the most.
Edwards will see less competition for touches on Sunday, which is why RotoBaller has him in the RB2 range in Week 3. He does have a tough matchup, though, against a Colts front seven that has only allowed 157 rush yards through two weeks.
Should I Start Gus Edwards In Week 3 Fantasy Football?
Edwards is a strong flex play this week, even against a tough Colts run defense. The veteran will be the Ravens' goal-line back, and the team could rely on the run more than usual this week with heavy showers expected to hit M&T Bank Stadium throughout the game.
If you're dealing with running back injuries already, Edwards is a nice filler in your starting lineups in Week 3. He can easily have 15-20 touches on the ground this weekend.
But Edwards is not necessarily a must-start this week. If you already roster two healthy running backs, he could be a potential flex play in Week 3. Some players I would start over the Ravens' running back in the flex spot are Christian Kirk, Jordan Addison, and Nico Collins.
