Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride has had a quiet 2022 season. The second-round rookie has had a limited role this year with Zach Ertz on the roster.
Over the first 10 games this season, the former Colorado State star had only four receptions for 31 receiving yards and 6.1 half-point PPR fantasy points. However, he saw his role expand when Ertz suffered a season-ending knee injury.
Since taking over as the starting tight end, McBride has picked up his play. Over the past six games, the rookie tight end has averaged 3.7 receptions and 6.1 fantasy points per game. More importantly, he had an excellent performance last week.

Should I Pickup Trey McBride For Fantasy Football Week 18?
Last week the former Colorado State star tight end had seven receptions on 10 targets for 78 receiving yards and 17.3 fantasy points against Atlanta, all career-highs. Furthermore, his 10 targets were a team-high. More importantly, he scored his first NFL touchdown.
This week the rookie faces the San Francisco 49ers. The NFC West division leaders have surrendered 13.9 fantasy points per game to tight ends over the past three weeks, giving up two receiving touchdowns during that span.
Furthermore, McBride should see another high target volume game as DeAndre Hopkins won’t play again this week with a knee injury.
What Other Tight Ends Should I Consider On The Waiver Wire?
While the rookie is a solid streaming option for Week 18, fantasy players should check their waiver wire for Tyler Conklin. The veteran tight end was a popular streaming option last week and should be again in Week 18.
Last week he caught all six of his targets for 80 receiving yards against the Seattle Seahawks, ending the game with 11 fantasy points. This week he has another excellent matchup against the Miami Dolphins.
Miami has surrendered 12.7 fantasy points per game to tight ends this season, one of the highest averages in the NFL. Furthermore, they have struggled to slow down tight ends lately.
Over the past three weeks, Miami has surrendered 5.3 receptions for 71 receiving yards, one touchdown, and 15.8 fantasy points per game to tight ends. The Dolphins have given up double-digit fantasy points to tight ends in eight of the past 10 games.
