Jacksonville Jaguars wide receivers Parker Washington and Gabe Davis (shoulder) are set for much bigger roles in their offenses in Week 9. JAX lost one of their best receivers, Christian Kirk (collarbone), to a broken collarbone in Week 8, and he will not return for this season.
In addition, star rookie WR Brian Thomas Jr. (chest) is unlikely to play in Week 9, leaving the top remaining receivers for that game as likely to be Davis and Washington. Davis is expected to be able to play through his shoulder issue, so they'll likely split targets with tight end Evan Engram.
So should you pick up Washington or Davis off waivers ahead of Week 9?

Parker Washington Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlook
The role Washington is stepping into is certainly nice for fantasy football. He'll primarily play in the slot, especially when Thomas returns, since he and Davis are the primary outside receivers. This means Washington will consistently face easier coverage.

However, it's always important to ask yourself whether a player is actually good at his position. Washington hasn't done anything yet to suggest that. He's a second-year player, sure, but his efficiency metrics are somewhat alarming. You generally prefer to see players post good efficiency when their volume is limited.
Washington has instead shown poor efficiency, difficulty separating from defensive coverage, and extremely limited usage. His yards per route run rate of under 1.0 is alarming. It will be difficult for him to carve out a consistent role.
Gabe Davis Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlook
Davis isn't the most exciting waiver prospect either. He's dealt with multiple injury issues this season and has just one game scoring double-digit PPR fantasy points -- that was only because of two touchdown snags. He has no games above 65 yards receiving and just one game over 45 receiving yards.

His drop issues are also well-documented. He's a boom-or-bust player with a very low boom chance this season.
Should I Pickup Parker Washington or Gabe Davis For Fantasy Football?
You would probably be fine not wasting your time with either of these players. The most likely outcome for Jacksonville's offense in Week 9 is an awful game of getting dominated by the Philadelphia Eagles. It's likely that Engram is the main beneficiary of the injuries, and he could see a ridiculous number of targets.

If Thomas can't go, expect Engram to lead the team in targets among WRs and TEs.
