We're heading into Week 11 of the NFL season, and fantasy managers are eager to find the next mid-season breakout player. That said, a guy like Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, who was barely on the fantasy football radar until now, is drawing interest on waiver wires.
After a big Week 10 performance, is Westbrook-Ikhine worth picking up for the late-season stretch?
There's no doubt Tennessee needs a true No. 1 wide receiver to step up. Could he be the guy for Ryan Tannehill?

How Did Nick-Westbrook-Ikhine Play In Week 10?
Even with Treylon Burks back in the lineup for the first time since Week 4, Westbrook-Ikhine led the Titans' players with eight targets against the Denver Broncos, catching five of them for 119 yards and two touchdowns. One of his touchdowns was a 63-yard flea flicker, but it's notable that he was the guy on the receiving end of the trick play call.
Westbrook-Ikhine produced a career-high 22.9 PPR fantasy points, the fifth-highest among all wideouts in Week 10. It was a true breakout performance, but he was likely only started in the very deepest of fantasy leagues.
Should I Pickup Nick Westbrook-Ikhine in Fantasy Football?
In deep leagues, Westbrook-Ikhine should be picked up after a huge performance, at least as a bench stash and a "wait-and-see" situation. However, in shallow leagues, there are likely better options on waivers.
The Titans were uncharacteristically pass-happy against the Broncos, and this was the first time Westbrook-Ikhine has made noise all season. Even though he's played in all nine of the Titans games, he has just one more target (23) than Burks (22), who has played in just five games. Austin Hooper and Robert Woods have more targets on the season than he does. In other words, he's fourth on the team in targets per game in a run-heavy offense.
Player Name |
Targets | Receptions | Rec. Yds | Games Played |
Robert Woods | 43 | 24 | 266 | 9 |
Austin Hooper | 25 | 17 | 191 | 9 |
Nick Westbrook-Ikhine | 23 | 12 | 257 | 9 |
Treylon Burks | 22 | 13 | 153 | 5 |
Derrick Henry | 21 | 16 | 154 | 9 |
His Week 10 performance feels awfully fluky, so he's not worth a priority add in traditional leagues. Westbrook-Ikhine has failed to be a fantasy football factor during his three-year career, so we can't overreact to one big game. None of the Titans' pass-catchers have much fantasy intrigue, but Treylon Burks is more worth stashing, as he likely has the most late-season upside.
