New York Jets running back Michael Carter expects to have a heavy workload in Week 8 against the New England Patriots following Breece Hall's season-ending ACL injury.
The second-year back from UNC played in 73% of snaps last week and led the Jets with 45 receiving yards. Michael Carter will compete with Ty Johnson and newly acquired James Robinson for touches out of the backfield. Robinson is expected to have a minimal role this week as he adjusts to the offense.
Is Michael Carter worth picking up despite the James Robinson trade? What is Carter's fantasy football outlook for the remainder of the season?

Should I Pickup Michael Carter For Week 8 Fantasy Football?
Michael Carter is owned in 82% of ESPN Fantasy Football leagues & 85% of Sleeper leagues. Carter is the 29th-highest-scoring running back in the full-PPR format. Carter has caught 20 of 24 targets this year and now has an expanded role in the Jets' offense.
Breece Hall's 13.1% target share is up for grabs and Carter will be the main beneficiary. The Jets have targeted their running backs 59 times this year, fourth-most in the league. Carter's receiving ability also makes him a weapon inside the red zone. His 15 red zone touches rank as the 20th-most by a running back this year.
Head coach Robert Saleh has stated that the Jets will ease James Robinson into the offense. Ty Johnson will predominantly back Carter up this Sunday against the Patriots. While Robinson gets accustomed to New York's offense, Carter is a great plug-in-play for Week 8.
What is Michael Carter's Fantasy Football Outlook For 2022?
Michael Carter has a career average of 18.8 PPG in games he's had four or more targets. Carter is averaging 3.4 targets per game this year and should be on the receiving end of Breece Hall's 4.4 unoccupied targets per game. A 42% snap share is Carter's minimum for the year. James Robinson is unlikely to replicate Hall's level of participation and receiving production in the offense.
Ty Johnson and James Robinson will siphon away roughly 50% of the snaps & opportunities coming out of the backfield. Carter's role as the elusive, efficient receiving back remains safe. Carter forced a missed tackle once every 3.39 touches last year, the best rate among backs with 100+ touches.
Carter's receiving upside is enticing. Even with Robinson eventually consuming the majority of the groundwork, Carter has great flex appeal for the remainder of the season.
